if you go to www.johnniems.com and click on his music, the cd is called Try This On, there should be samples of all the tunes there.

Really nice to hear you are accomplishing what you've sought out to do Randy. Keep going. Keep going...

It's tough at times. This year was really slow for live work, but made it up on the studio side. Been doing htis since I graduated MI in '84, this is all I ever wanted from life and have been lucky is all I can say.

Kewl beanz, Randman...
Another funny thing [a neat little story] - I noticed that the #2 slot is occupied by saxist Richard Elliot [formerly Tower of Power]... Richard's drummer is great player [& all-around nice guy] Dave Reinhardt, who lives a stones throw from me [& who's played w/ Rick Braun also, who's also on that airplay chart]... used to go see him in local clubs & sat in a few times back in the late 80's/early 90's [along w/ several other great drummers in the area who've also gone on to greater fame] - "tag-team drumming" we'd call it... another interesting story...
We all used to hang out & check it out, sometimes sit it...
Dave would actually let me tape him live at certain gigs back at that time/"in the day," so that i could get a better grasp on where he was coming from conceptually... again, he was & still is one the best of [if not the best] drummers in town... great player... Jeff Berlin [& also Mike Scaglione, sax & bass from Gloria Estefan/Miami Sound Machine] used to come in frequently & play w/ Dave in the "IOU Band," & w/ he & his keyboardist brother Ron's band, the "Cave Men" [Ron's also still w/ Elliot last i checked]... both bro's are fine players...

Hey, I just played Mr. Magic on a gig! That's a FUN tune to use for chorus solo-ing! My approach was to break down the A Section with up beats on the hihat, cross stick on 4, kick on 1, with a few kick accents on the jump. Really fun.
